The problem with our new kettle

No, Dave hasn't tried to put it on the gas element - yet. It sounds like a frickin' airplane taking off in our kitchen! If we had known the kettle was going to be so loud, we wouldn't have needed automatic shutoff. Grrr... with Ezra being as light a sleeper as he is, this is a real obstacle in the way of trying to sneak a cup of tea while he naps.
