31 now

So, what are you going to do for your birthday?

I don't know... I haven't thought that far ahead.

When you were a kid, what were you going to do when you turned 31?

When I was a kid, I never got past the age of 23 in my imagination.

My brother-in-law says he never got past 32. That was the year 2000, as 23 was for me. When I was a kid, the world was going to end in 2000.

But it hasn't, and to celebrate my 31st birthday, I'm going to shoot that cement factory I pass on the way to my parents, the cement factory that every time I think I want to shoot that, but I never have. That and the more recently burnt out Victorian mansion with no roof and lots of graffiti.

35. That was my 2000 age.

Happy Birthday, venerable one. Here's to making it to 123 and 135. Ha!

Oo, I think I know that Victorian mansion--the one that was surrounded (and killed) by the highway and off-ramps. Perhaps it would have made for a nice restaurant.

Happy Birthday to you!
My 31st was in 2000.

I never saw myself in the future, either. I remember almost not being able to grasp the concept of the 'twenties' because it seemed so far away and unrealistic, almost, for me to consider.

Which could be a good thing, in a way.

Happy Birthday. Hope this year's a good one.

Argh...screwed up my first blogger comment....
anyways...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY - hope you had a great one! Will see you soon to celebrate. We can take pictures together and you can tell me how to interpret my camera's manual?
I was 27 in 2000 (when I met you!), and when I was little, I am pretty sure adulthood added up to 25 (no clue why).
Don't forget, before Y2K there was a pretty serious world ending date in 89 or 90 (one of many really) - i remember a party anyways...
At any rate, glad we are still here!

I was 28 in 2000. That was a good year. 31 was pretty good too. Hope it's your best yet. Happy Birthday!

Happy Belated Birthday.

I kind of ignored my more horrible one (really, it was a bigger rounder number with a 4 in it ;-p) in early November, which was easy to do since we were on holiday.

I used to imagine how old I'd be in the year 2000 ... funny, when you're young, you never think you'll live that long, and then... you skate past it.

Happy Belated Birthday.

Let's see, in 2000 I would have been 25.

As I recall, I was sure I'd have three books on the bestseller lists by then.

My mom always said her 30's were her favorite age. So I naturally looked forward to it, in that vague way a child looks forward to what are presumed to be the pleasures of adulthood.

Happy 31st from this 32-year old. Hope it's superb.
