make my day

This made my day yesterday:

You Are a Ring Finger

You are romantic, expressive, and hopeful. You see the best in
everything.

You are very artistic, and you see the world as your canvas. You are
also drawn to the written word.

Inventive and unique, you are often away in your own inner world.

You get along well with: The Pinky

Stay away from: The Index Finger

I thought fer sure I was going to be the middle finger, and I'm not sure I agree 100 percent (especially with seeing the best in everything), but it sure sounds good, doesn't it?

But now, I discovered that the awarding of the Canadian Blog Awards will be unrolled over the NEXT WEEK. I'd hoped I'd find out the results today or tomorrow at the latest. Oh well... guess it won't kill me to wait a bit. I'm hoping for third so I can get some nice bling for my sidebar...

I so thoroughly enjoyed the questions that Slouching Mom got from her readers that I'm going to up this space up to questions too... ask me anything. I can't imagine a question I wouldn't want to answer... so go ahead, make my day?

PS I'm so stoked about Lost starting again tonight. I didn't think I was but then I came across last night's repeat of last season's finale and I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed it. Anyone else looking forward to it?

PPS With Sugar D going away in a few days, I'm wondering how I will shower. For the last two years I've just waited until Sugar D was home and showered in the evening, usually after Swee'pea went to bed. But now that Swee'pea's in the big bed, I'm not sure how comfortable I am showering while he sleeps in case 1) he doesn't go to sleep for a very long time or 2) he wakes up when I'm in the shower and starts wandering around opening drawers and pulling furniture over on himself. Any ideas? How do you do it?

Hooray for Lost!

If hubby isn't going to be around, I do the bath at night and then stick my head in the sink in the morning. Even the bath is risky, of course - but at least I can hear.

Bring the munchkin in the bathroom with you and close the door. Bring books or toys or something that he likes to play with for a bit of time and wash FAST. Or take a bath with him.

What is your favorite person/place/thing to photograph? What draws you in the most?

Shower FAST, my friend. Also, buy some dollar store sheets of stickers, take him into the bathroom with you, make sure ANYTHING DANGEROUS is put up and hand him a sheet of stickers while you leap into the shower. You're going to have a very decorated bathroom but it can't be helped.

p.s. I'll see if I can think of a good question for you...

Well apparently I'm a pinky finger.

Heh heh. I, too, am a ring finger.

As for showering, I let my wee one wander around the bathroom and adjacent hallway...I keep the bathroom door open so I can hear everything and he can run in and out at will. My bigger one can choose to stay upstairs with us or sit in the playroom and play nicely by himself for the 10-15 minutes it takes.

I'm planning to do this question/answer thing myself in a week or two... and yet I'm having a hard time coming up with a question.

Your pictures are gorgeous. How many shots do you generally take to get 'the shot' you're looking for? And how long do you work with a particular photo when you sit down to edit?

Ring finger too.

Shower fast once he's asleep or take him into the shower with you. Put him at the end of the tub with a pail of water and a cloth and ask him to wash the walls while you get cleaned up. That is if nudity is cool in your house the way it is in mine.

Do you have a birthmark?

Hey, I thought we were supposed to ask the questions.

Can you put on a show and trust that he'll sit in front of the tube for 15 minutes?

If you could live anywhere (no worries about safety, work, etc.) where would it be?

I would either do right when he falls asleep or put on his favourite tv show.

I really hope you win - you've got my vote.

Ok, I'm trying really hard not to feel neglected and unloved, but seriously? Only a few questions?

Oh well... guess I'll just go steal some questions from Slouching Mom.

I put my littlest one in his room to play *with a baby gate up at his doorway* to shower. And then shower fast. Uh...good luck. ;)

Question: How did you and Sugar D meet?

1)Lost rocks

2) maybe he can get in the shower with you

3) here's a question (that I ask everyone: who do you like better, rolling stones or beatles and why

yep, i'm a middle finger. :)

and in the mornings we strap O into the fisher price rocker chair that he's long since outgrown, give him a book or three and a sticker and tell him "it's reading time". sometimes there is howling and occasionally he crawls out and prances about the bathroom (since he's actually been able to extricate himself from the chair for oh, six months or so). but we're still milking it. usually we get out and he's sitting there reading like a little old man on the pot.

since i think (from a post awhile back) that you are a bit of a fellow Bowie fan, my first question is...
a) which era/incarnation of Bowie would you most like to spend the evening with? (not necessarily romantically or anything)
my other less dweebie questions...
b) what's the loneliest period you've ever gone through, and what got you through it?

I've got nothing on the showering thing, because Pumpkin is still little enough to be strapped into a bouncy chair, given some toys, and brought into the bathroom to enjoy the steam while I shower.

Question: How did you first get into photography?

I wasn't expecting to get so quickly sucked back in again either, but the one-hour preview/review was really well done. Funny, the last time an episode of LOST was on, I wasn't pregnant yet!! And I loved the premiere episode.

Two questions: First, do you and Sugar D have one of those lists where if some hot celebrity decides they want to sleep with you, you're allowed to do so? (Beloved's is Nicole Kidman, mine includes - but is not limited to - David Bowie and Ewan McGregor.) If so, who is on your list, and who is on his?

Second, what would you of today say to you at your most challenging teenage stage? Or, more succinctly, what advice would grown-up Sin give to teenage Sin?

I try to shower before the toddler gets up. If that fails, I try to get one of the older kids to play with her (I know that's not an option for you). If THAT fails, I just lock the gate at the top of the stairs and let her wander around the upstairs for a few minutes.

Oh, I hear the doorbell. I think it's Children's Aid.... ;)

Question: If you had an entire day to yourself, no work, no mothering, no chores or errands, what would be your favourite way to spend that day?
