Kyla, not an action. I adjusted levels and curves and stuff, then applied an overlay from leschick on flickr. If you go to my page on flickr, a couple of the images have links to the overlay and instructions. That's what made it all scratchy-looking. My latest favourite thing to do with black and white images is to apply a sepia filter as a separate layer then choose the overlay blend mode so the sepia mostly affects the shadows and not the highlights... it also provides a major boost to the contrast.
Sugar D says I shouldn't use the same treatment in two photos next to each other because it's too obvious, but I kind of like the similarity between images... what do you think?
Maddy, I was nominated for Best Photo/Art Blog in the Canadian Blog Awards and voting ends today. It had been a while since I posted photos and I thought maybe I should because of the category I was nominated for.
Nomo, I have NO idea! I was sorting through close to 300 photos from a week-long trip to eastern Ontario and there were other, cuter photos to focus on, so I guess it just got lost in the shuffle.
My faves are first and last. Last because the light, oh the light. First because of the man, such an awkward gait. Normally runners look magically graceful.
I like the similarity in applied technique. Since you asked. :)
These are all great. I just love the one of Swee'pea, though. I think it is something to do with his pose (which seems somehow to belong to an older person) and the red socks and the way it is all framed.
I voted for you, too. I hope us non-Canadians were allowed to do that. (:
Since my son is a lousy sleeper (but so great in all other categories) I have no memory and need to write down everything. Now I even make lists of things I want to do or talk about. Sad...

I love them all, but especially the one of Swee'Pea.
Did you run an action on them to give them the old quality?

I love your photos ... all of them. Thank you so much for the instructions on how to get the finish. I'll have to try it.
Not quite sure what you mean about voting, but those look like hits to me.
Cheers

Those are all lovely but then I am always in awe of your photos.
YOu have such a gift, you know?
How was that shot of Swee'Pea ever a reject?? I LOVE it. Really.

Awesome and GOOD LUCK!
Of course the baby shot rocks.

Rejects? Oh, please.
I love the one of your wee boy...
That second picture - I LOVE IT!
(and I voted for you. I hope you win.)

Beautiful shots. I love the one of the little man in the picture and the one with the water splashing on someone's face on a hot summer day.
I so can't wait til summer!
